Mrs. Pollard, Reading Specialist

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Pollard
Emma Grace enjoys a good book‚Äč

Welcome to Charles England Elementary School! I am so excited to work with your children in reading this year! We are going to have a marvelous year together! This is my 17th school year in the Lexington City School district and my 11th year as a Reading Specialist. Before becoming a reading teacher, I worked as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant at South Lexington. I received my Bachelors degree in Religion and my Masters of Education in Language and Literacy K-12 at Salem College.

As the school year begins, your child will become familiar with the daily routines here at Charles England Elementary. As the year progresses, I will be working with students selected for reading support.

I recommend that you spend any free time you have reading with your child. Any materials you use are fine! Newspapers, age appropriate books, or websites, such as Starfall.com
.  One of MY very favorite books is, "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.  That Max is always making mischief of one kind or another. Just reading a book like this one together for 20 minutes a day makes a tremendous difference in a child's life!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at ppollard@lexcs.org.
