Big Red - WKU

My name is Katie Wick, and I have been teaching art since 2011.  I earned my bachelor's degree in Art Education with a minor in Art History through Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  I started my teaching career as a middle school art teacher for four years at Todd County Middle School in Elkton, Kentucky.  My husband and I decided to move to North Carolina to be closer to our family, so I began teaching high school art at Salisbury High School.  After a year, I decided I wanted to teach elementary art, and came to Lexington City Schools.  I now teach art to kindergarten through fifth grade students, as well as hands-on STEAM activities to first and second grade students throughout the school year, and I love it!

My family

At home, I have a husband, a dog, and two cats.  My husband's name is Ryan, my dog's name is Finn, and my cat's are named Sophie and Atlas.  I also create my own artwork and crafts when I am not at school.  I typically enjoy drawing and painting, although I also love learning about new art materials, techniques, and artists.  I also love to travel, go hiking, garden, and spend time with my friends and family!
