Lexington City Schools

Members of the The Lexington (NC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and 2023 graduates Brittany Marshall and Chrisitina Lawrence assist teachers and staff at the end of the year celebration. 

Donors of Lexington City Schools happily accept their awards for their outstanding contributions throughout the year at the 22-23 Jacket Parent Academy Graduation and Volunteer Celebration. 

Members of Friendship Baptist Church donate and distribute clear back packs to students at South Lexington School & Developmental Center.  

Elevation Church, the Cory Holt Foundation, Assistant Principal Wilson and community volunteers wrap games for the LMS game giveaway to promote family engagement during the holidays. Elevation Church and the Cory Holt Foundation donated 500 games to our middle school students.  

Jacket Parent Academy Alumni members Brittany Bagwell and Amber Daly, Cory Holt of the Cory Holt Foundation and Rhona Lockhart, Jacket Parent Academy Ambassador, serve staff at CEES for their annual Christmas breakfast. 

Angela McDuffie (school board member), Norma Parks-Partee (retired LCS school teacher) and members of the Omicron Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. serve staff at SWEGA for their annual Christmas breakfast.

Omicron Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. provides hygiene bags and encouragement to students at Lexington Senior High School. 

Frieda Kay and her team volunteer to provide haircuts and hairstyles to students at CEES for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Congratulations to Micah Owens who unselfishly represented his peers, the Lexington City Schools and the Lexington community in the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's (NCDPI) North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate Grassroots Initiative. The initiative, instituted by Superintendent Catherine Truitt, invited students to share their thoughts and provide suggestions regarding elements that can be utilized to help prepare graduates for the workforce. In sharing his perspectives, Micah  became one of the innovators of the 7 competencies identified for students to succeed in the 21st century. 

Congratulations to Tashina Patterson, Jacket Parent Academy alumni, who also generously represented the Lexington City Schools and the Lexington community in the North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate Grassroots Initiative. Tashina is among the portrait design innovators who created the actual image that represents the new grassroots project. 

Veterans and active servicemen from the local community came to speak to students at SWEGA to share their duties and experiences from their active service terms and as current veterans.

The Lexington (NC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. provided dinner for the football team before their game. 

Volunteers from the Lexington community and staff of LSHS clean and beautify the grounds of the high school in preparation for the students/return. 

Volunteers from Elevation Church, the Cory Holt Foundation and Lexington Middle School beautify the school grounds at the middle school in preparation for the students' return.   

Volunteers from Elevation Church, the Cory Holt Foundation, Lexington City Schools and the Lexington Community come together to clean and sanitize areas of the Lexington Senior High School field house.   

Volunteers from First Baptist Church in Lexington (W 3rd Ave.) provide dinner for the LSHS football team before their Friday night game.   

Volunteers from Elevation Church, the Cory Holt Foundation, Lexington City Schools and Southwest Elementary Global Academy gather together to organize teacher supply baskets, renovate the SWEGA greenhouse and beautify the grounds in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year.
