Congratulations to Micah Owens who unselfishly represented his peers, the Lexington City Schools and the Lexington community in the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's (NCDPI) North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate Grassroots Initiative. The initiative, instituted by Superintendent Catherine Truitt, invited students to share their thoughts and provide suggestions regarding elements that can be utilized to help prepare graduates for the workforce. In sharing his perspectives, Micah became one of the innovators of the 7 competencies identified for students to succeed in the 21st century.
Congratulations to Tashina Patterson, Jacket Parent Academy alumni, who also generously represented the Lexington City Schools and the Lexington community in the North Carolina Portrait of a Graduate Grassroots Initiative. Tashina is among the portrait design innovators who created the actual image that represents the new grassroots project.
