Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Alexander

My name is Jeong Alexander. I am very excited to be teaching fourth grade at Southwest! I was born and raised in Chuncheon, South Korea. In many ways, my hometown reminds me of Lexington because of caring families, friends, and most of all teachers I have had the privilege of encountering. I previously lived in Louisiana and South Carolina before moving to North Carolina. I have been living in Lexington for over 20 years now. From early in my life, like in most families, I learned about the importance of education. I obtained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science before completing my degree and certification in Elementary Education at Greensboro College, in Greensboro, N.C. While attending Greensboro College, I worked as an assistant teacher for the Lexington City School system. I have been with the school system for the past twenty years. Teaching brings me so much joy and I feel privileged to be able to do so.

I am married and have three wonderful children. I have a dog named Sammy and a cat named Lucy. I am an avid reader. I love to play the piano and paint in my free time. I have painted several pieces for the Lexington Multicultural Festival. I painted the "Pig In a Jacket" for the Lexington City School system in 2003. This year I enjoyed painting artwork based on the seven continents for Southwest Global Academy. I love working with children and my goal is to help my students reach their full potential. I am looking forward to working with all of you this year!
