Ms. Princess Pressley
I am very excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Southwest Elementary Global Academy. It is indeed an honor to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing, caring, and committed school community. I look forward to partnering with you as we continue our work at Southwest Elementary Global Academy to do what is best for ALL children so that they thrive in the present and in the future. All my school leadership experiences have been in Title I schools, where we successfully changed the narrative for so many students because of our unwavering commitment to the growth and achievement of ALL students.
I am a proud educator with 25 years of experience. I started my career in Guilford County as a classroom teacher and relocated to Raleigh and continued my classroom journey for 10 years. For the next 10, I was in instructional coaching positions in Wake and Durham counties. I then decided to return to my hometown of Winston-Salem as an Instructional Facilitator and for the last 4 years served in the role as an Assistant Principal.
Above all, I am eager to observe, listen, learn, and understand what makes Southwest Elementary Global Academy thrive.
Degrees and Certifications:
Masters of School Administration from UNC-Greensboro
Mr. Opie Stinson
This is my 24th year in education and all but three of those years have been right here in Lexington! I started my Jacket journey as a first grade teacher at Pickett Primary where I saw great successes as each student left my classroom above grade level. I wanted to be able to help even more students reach their full potential so I went back to school and received my Masters in School Administration from UNC-Greensboro.
My first administrative job here in Lexington was at the middle school as the 6th grade house principal! We saw much growth and success increasing student proficiency and developing the foundational skills for those 6th graders to become leaders in their communities. I have since moved back to the elementary world to help create more opportunities to develop educational foundation skills that will help your students be successful in gaining an education that will help them rise to their potential.
I am excited for the opportunity to work with the students, families, teachers, and the Southwest community to create an environment that encourages the success and growth of our school! I stand with Martin Luther King Jr. when he said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” It is my true belief that by working together, we can accomplish anything.
