  • Why work for LCS?

Lexington, NC, is located in the heart of North Carolina's Piedmont area. We are within a 30-minute drive of Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem, and about 45 minutes from Charlotte. Lexington City Schools serves approximately 3,100 students in our seven schools: 3 elementary (grades 1–5), 1 primary (Pre-K & K), 1 middle, 1 high, and a developmental center. Our incentives include: a supportive induction program for beginning teachers, high-quality professional development, generous tuition reimbursement and salary, and supplement advances to qualified individuals. We are currently offering a signing/retention bonus of $5,000 to EC Teachers who commit to 2 years with our South Lexington Development Center. We have reduced class sizes, strong classroom instructional technology, and outstanding athletic facilities. Almost 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced priced meals, and 46% are from families that fall below the federal poverty line. Approximately 33% of our students are African-American, 33% are Hispanic, and 30% are white. These students need teachers with whom they can relate and who will hold them to standards that help to ensure they are successful in life.
