Class Expectations

First grade students are expected to always try their best.  First graders will encounter new experiences and challenging tasks at times.  As a first grade teacher, our goal is to encourage confidence and independence.  Each first grader is expected to show respect towards teachers, peers, and school property.  Students must be at school by 7:30 each morning.  Students that arrive after 7:30 will be tardy. 

Homework

Students are required to read with an adult 20 minutes each day. 

As students read, they can discuss things happening in the book and answer questions such as:

• Who are the characters?

• What is the setting?

• What happened first, next, last? 

• What is your favorite part?  Why?

Check your child's folders for any weekly learning activities.
