Ms. Williams

Hello Pickett Yellow Jackets! I am so excited to be working alongside all of your lovely faces as your School Counselor. I enjoy being an advocate and support system for students, offering a safe place to ensure your social and emotional needs are met. Just like we take care of our physical health, we want to make sure our mental health needs are also met. If we are not good, then we may find it hard to be good friends and good students. I have been told I am a free-spirited person and will do my best to do what it takes to help you reach your fullest potential.

ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies

The ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies outline the mindsets and behaviors school counselors need to meet the rigorous demands of the school counseling profession and the needs of pre-K–12 students. These standards and competencies help ensure new and experienced school counselors are equipped to establish, maintain and enhance a school counseling program addressing academic achievement, career planning and social/emotional development.

Please refer to www.schoolcounselor.org for detailed information regarding the Mindset and Behaviors of the School Counseling Program.

What is a 504 plan? A 504 Plan is a school plan that helps make sure students with medical, physical, or learning needs have the support they need to be successful in the classroom. It provides accommodations—like extra time on tests, sitting in a certain spot, or taking breaks—so your child has the same opportunities to learn as their peers.

Do you feel your child may need a 504?

BackPack Program

Pickett Elementary is proud to offer the BackPack Program for students who may need extra food support at home. Each Friday, your child will receive a bag of food at no cost.

The food bags will be sent home with your child at the end of the week.

Daily Schedule

While my daily schedule will vary, I will provide Direct and Indirect Services for students daily, making sure I meet the developmental needs of all students. My duties include but are not limited to:

  • One-on-One counseling services

  • Small Groups

  • 504 Planning

  • Classroom Guidance

  • Parent Meetings

  • BackPack Program

  • Classroom Observations

It is important to know that School Counselors must maintain strength-based relationships with students and, therefore, are not involved in administering discipline. School Counselors are not therapists and cannot provide long-term mental health therapy in schools. Referrals will be made as necessary.
