The Lexington City Board of Education has appointed Dr. Ron Anthony as the next superintendent of Lexington City Schools. The decision was made during a special called meeting held on April 21, 2026. Dr. Anthony will begin his role on May 1, 2026.
Dr. Anthony brings more than 20 years of experience in public education across North Carolina. Since 2021, he has served as Deputy Superintendent of Person County Schools, where he has overseen operational departments, led crisis response planning, and supported school leaders across the district. Prior to that role, he served as Executive Director of Exceptional Children & Student Support Services.
His previous leadership experience includes serving as Principal of Benson Middle School in Johnston County, as well as Assistant Principal at Riverwood Middle School in Clayton and Meadow School in Benson.
Dr. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Elizabeth City State University, a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He also holds Superintendent and K–12 Principal certifications in North Carolina.
