Our Teacher Assistant is William Balser "Mr. Will" He has been in the Early Childhood field for 10 years. He was in the military and has schooling through UNCG and DCCC. Mr Will is married with a dog. He loves hockey.

We are so excited to welcome you to our class!  Together we look forward to being your child's first step on their educational journey.  In our class we believe that learning should be interactive and fun!  It is our hope that we build relationships with not only your child but with your family as well.  It is a partnership that will truly help your child to thrive and grow.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have for your child.

Classroom / Grade-Level Expectations

Hello, Our main expectation for your family is for you to check your child's folder.  We will have important information from class/school, homework, reading logs and information on your child's behavior.   It is our hope that you will read to your child each day.  Your child will bring home a book from our bin every day but you can write down any book that a family member reads to your child.  Record the book on your child's reading log.  We will do a reading celebration each month where your child's woodland animal will climb our reading tree.  At the end of the year if your child reaches the top of the reading tree, they will receive a special prize.

In addition to homework that may be sent home we will also assign a "letter of the week" for your child.  Please have your child practice writing their letter, finding items around the house that begin with the letter sound and reinforcing that they know their letter.  Each Friday we will check their letter of the week and if it is known they will progress to a new letter the following week.  We will also be doing special family projects throughout the year.  Please be sure to work with your child on these fun activities.  It is an opportunity for you to share in what they are doing in class.  We will have your child present their special project during carpet time.  This is a great opportunity for them to become comfortable speaking in front of their peers.

Thank you so much for all that you do!

***If you have not done so yet please sign up for Class Dojo as this will be our main form of contact.

Homework

Please be sure to work with your child on their letter/word of the week by identifying the letter/word, writing the letter/word and learning the sound.  As your child advances, you can move up to having your child write words that start with their letter.

Please be sure to read to your child each night and write the book(s) on the reading Log.

Complete the family projects for each month.

Complete homework in your child's folder by the following Monday,
