Lexington Senior High School student-athletes are earning statewide recognition for excellence both in the classroom and in competition.

A total of 14 varsity teams from the fall and winter seasons have been named Scholar-Athlete Teams by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. This honor is awarded to teams that achieve a combined grade point average of 3.1 or higher, highlighting a strong culture of academic achievement across the athletic program.

In addition, 80 student-athletes earned individual Scholar-Athlete recognition by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester. This accomplishment reflects the discipline, commitment, and time management required to excel at a high level both academically and athletically.

“We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for the discipline and commitment they demonstrate both in the classroom and in competition,” said Benjamin Robinson, Athletic Director at Lexington Senior High School. “This recognition reflects the culture we are building, one rooted in accountability, excellence, and preparing students for success beyond high school.”

This achievement represents a collective effort across the school community, where teachers, coaches, and families work together to support student success.

“This accomplishment reflects the intentional focus we place on supporting the whole child,” said Dr. Rodney Shotwell, Interim Superintendent of Lexington City Schools. “Our students are demonstrating what it means to lead with discipline and pursue excellence in every area of their lives.”

Student-athletes will be formally recognized during Lexington Senior High School’s annual Athletic Celebration in May.
