Lexington City Schools has announced its upcoming Driver Education Classroom Instruction session, scheduled for June 1–5, 2026, at Lexington Senior High School.

The weeklong course will run Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the school’s Media Center. The program is designed to provide students with the required 30 hours of classroom instruction needed to progress toward obtaining a driver’s license.

Students who wish to participate must be at least 14½ years old on or before June 1, 2026, and must be enrolled in Lexington City Schools, a private school within the district, or be homeschooled while residing within the district.

Registration will open online on May 11, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and will remain open until all 50 available seats are filled. School officials emphasize that early registration is critical, as previous sessions have filled quickly. Confirmation emails will be sent only to students who are successfully assigned a seat in the class.

Classes will be held daily, and attendance is mandatory. Students are expected to be present for the full duration of the course, as there are no make-up days offered. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from the school.

Lunch will be provided Monday through Thursday via the school cafeteria; however, students should bring their own lunch on Friday. Participants are also asked to bring basic materials, including notebook paper and a pencil.

The cost for the course is $10. Payments must be made to Lexington City Schools, with checks or money orders preferred, though exact cash will be accepted. Payments will be collected at the Lexington Senior High School Student Services Office between May 13 and May 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For additional information, families may contact Tracy Marsh at tmarsh@lexcs.org or by phone at (336) 242-1527, extension 1215.

This summer program provides an important opportunity for students to begin their journey toward safe and responsible driving.
