Lexington Senior High School proudly recognizes the retirement of longtime basketball coach Robert Hairston following years of dedicated service, leadership, and impact on student-athletes and the school community.
Coach Hairston most recently served as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Lexington Senior High School and leaves behind a lasting legacy built on excellence, mentorship, and commitment to students both on and off the court.
During his coaching career at Lexington Senior High School, Coach Hairston earned 162 total wins, becoming one of the most respected and accomplished coaches in school history. His leadership extended across both the boys and girls basketball programs, including his time as Head Men’s Basketball Coach from 2007 to 2013, where he secured 86 wins.
Under Coach Hairston’s leadership, teams consistently demonstrated excellence through strong athletic performance, discipline, teamwork, and character. His accomplishments include two Conference Championships and recognition as a Two-Time Conference Coach of the Year.
Beyond the wins and accolades, Coach Hairston made a lasting impact through his dedication to mentoring young people and helping student-athletes grow into leaders within the school and community.

Coach Hairston’s influence extends far beyond basketball, with former players, colleagues, families, and community members continuing to recognize the positive impact he made throughout his career.
