Congratulations to our Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams for kicking off their seasons with BIG wins! 🙌

A huge shoutout to our Women’s Wrestling team for earning the highest team finish in school history last week in Asheboro — and an extra special congratulations to Amaya Hairston for winning a championship in her weight class! 🔥🥇

You can catch all these incredible student-athletes in action Tuesday and Wednesday, and we’ll wrap up the week with a rivalry showdown against Thomasville.

Lexington City Schools Celebrate the North Carolina Crunch!

Last week, Lexington City Schools joined districts across the state for the annual North Carolina Crunch, celebrating local agriculture and healthy eating. Fresh NC-grown apples, delivered by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, were enjoyed by students in classroom tastings, nutrition lessons, and schoolwide “crunch” events.

The event highlighted the importance of supporting North Carolina farmers while bringing students and staff together for a fun, educational experience.

LEAF Boosters will be taking pre-orders up until Wednesday October 23rd at 4pm. Orders can be picked on Thursday October 24th at 5pm at the Football stadium ticket booth.

🐝 Yellow Jacket Nation – What a Week for Lexington Senior High! 🐝

We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaches for their outstanding performances this past week! Here’s a look at all the buzzworthy accomplishments:

🏃‍♀️ Cross Country – The women’s team finished 2nd in the PAC-7 Conference Championship and will compete at the NCHSAA Regionals this Saturday! Let’s wish them the best of luck!

🎾 Women’s Tennis – Our athletes showed grit and talent in the NCHSAA dual team and individual regionals, representing Lexington with pride.

⛳ Women’s Golf – Finished second in the conference 18-hole tournament! Special shoutout to Melina Benitez as she advances to the Women’s Golf Regionals in Pilot Mountain on Monday. Go Melina!

🏈 Varsity Football – A huge conference win over Montgomery Central! Way to go Jackets!

🏐 Women’s Volleyball – Congratulations on an incredible, historic season! Thank you to everyone who showed up Saturday and packed the gym with energy. The team battled all the way to 5 sets and left it all on the court!

We will honor all of our Fall sport student-athletes at halftime during the Football game vs. HP Central. Come cheer on our seniors as they take the field at Lexington one last time in the regular season!

LCS Health and Wellness Day 🔹🧡 Lexington City Schools hosted a special Health and Wellness Day to help our incredible employees recharge, refocus, and continue giving their best to our students! From relaxation activities to wellness resources and healthy foods, this event was all about supporting our staff’s well-being. "Honoring Our Bus Drivers: National Bus Driver Appreciation Week" Lexington City Schools is celebrating National Bus Driver Appreciation Week to honor the dedication and commitment of our bus drivers. These dedicated professionals play a crucial role in the daily lives of our students, ensuring their safety and well-being as they travel to and from school. This week, we invite our school community to show their appreciation through thank-you notes, social media shout-outs, and small gestures of gratitude. The LSHS Battle of the Books team had a great time at Northern Guilford High scrimmaging against six Guilford County schools. The students did well and learned a lot in preparation for the regionals in March!

ACCESS Parent Night: A Successful Event for Multilingual Families On January 23, 2025, Lexington City Schools held a highly successful ACCESS Parent Night for parents and guardians of multilingual students (K-12) at the Lexington Senior High School Media Center. This event provided valuable information about the upcoming ACCESS testing, presented by Mrs. Susie Best, our ML Coordinator. The session covered important details, including: An overview of each domain in the ACCESS test The impact of ACCESS scores on school growth How parents can help prepare their students for the test Parents also received a comprehensive resource packet to support their students' learning. Spanish interpretation was available to ensure that all families could fully engage in the discussion. The turnout was impressive—more than double the attendance from last year—and the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended and to the Lexington City Schools team for making this event a great success!
