LCS Superintendent Search Applications
LEXINGTON — The Lexington City Schools (LCS) Board of Education announced today that the application period for the district’s next superintendent has officially closed, marking an important milestone in the leadership search process.
The Board received a total of 34 applications from candidates representing seven different states, including North Carolina. The strong response reflects broad interest in leading Lexington City Schools and highlights the district’s reputation within the regional and national education community.
The applications will be processed by the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA), which is assisting the Board with the superintendent search. Once finalized, the application materials will be released to the Board of Education for review. The Board looks forward to carefully reviewing the applications and moving into the interview stage of the superintendent search process over the next several weeks.
The Board of Education also extends its sincere appreciation to community members, teachers, staff, and students who participated in the Superintendent Search Survey, which concluded on January 13, 2026. The feedback provided through the survey is a valuable part of the search process and will help guide the Board as it works to identify the next leader of Lexington City Schools.
The Lexington City Schools Board of Education remains committed to a thorough, transparent, and inclusive search process and will continue to share updates as the search progresses.
