Lexington City Schools’ School Nutrition Department is celebrating a strong start to the 2025–2026 school year.

From August through December, 127,881 reimbursable breakfasts were served compared to 115,591 during the same period last year. Lunch participation also increased, with 186,282 reimbursable lunches served compared to 176,859 last year. Overall breakfast participation rose to 64.08 percent, reflecting continued efforts to ensure students begin each day ready to learn.

The department has also celebrated several highlights this year, including recognition as a Going the Distance Summer Champion for the 2025 Summer Feeding Program and 100th Day of School celebrations across elementary grade levels.

Wings and Rings were featured on the menu for the Super Bowl at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and will return to menus again throughout the remainder of the year.

In addition to serving high quality meals, the School Nutrition team continues its commitment to food safety and professional growth through ongoing School Food Handler training, Vector Training, and KnowBe4 district required IT training.
