During a recent campus visit, Dr. Ron Anthony spent time connecting with students and staff, toured the school’s Spark Lab, and personally sponsored a student’s upcoming field trip to Dave & Buster's after learning the student faced a financial barrier to participation.

We have been informed that Canvas is currently experiencing a global outage due to a recent cyberattack. As a precaution, LCS has disabled access to Canvas at this time. Please do not attempt to log in or use the platform.
As a result, both teachers and students will be unable to access coursework until further notice. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for when service will be restored. We recognize the disruption this may cause and want to assure you that students will not be penalized during this outage.
We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, please refer to the district website for the latest information regarding the Canvas outage.

On May 1st, in celebration of National School Lunch Hero Day, Interim Superintendent Dr. Rodney Shotwell joined School Nutrition Managers to recognize their dedication and hard work. This annual observance honors the cafeteria professionals who tirelessly prepare and serve nutritious meals to students each day. Lexington City Schools extends its heartfelt appreciation to our Child Nutrition Managers—thank you for all you do. You are our heroes!

Through Books on Break, students across Lexington City Schools are selecting books to take home and keep, building personal libraries and extending learning beyond the classroom.

On April 21, the Board voted to appoint Dr. Ron Anthony as Superintendent of Lexington City Schools.
Dr. Anthony brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and will officially begin his role on May 1, 2026.
These moments capture the Board’s action and the introduction of Dr. Anthony and his family to the Lexington City Schools community.
